As a child I have always been interested in athletics leading to a high school career competing in basketball and swimming. These experiences sparked the desire to pursue a career that was sport adjacent and also connected to some form of health. At the University of Kentucky, I majored in kinesiology with a psychology minor to gain understanding of health from a physical and mental standpoint. Initially, I wanted to pursue a career in athletic training, but once I took a sport psychology course, that plan completely shifted.

Eventually, I pursued my master’s degree in sport and exercise psychology at the University of Kentucky with the hope of becoming a sport psychology professional. I helped clients accomplish their goals, improve performance, and be the best version of themselves. While working as a resilience and performance enhancement trainer for the military, I recognized the importance of being a more comprehensive resource. I wanted to become a healthcare provider who could address mental health concerns and psychological disorders. Although I enjoyed my time working with collegiate athletes and active-duty service members to help them reach their performance goals, I decided that pursuing clinical training would elevate my ability to support clients through their times of success, failures, and emotional challenges.

Currently, I am a 4th-year clinical psychology doctoral student at the Florida School of Professional Psychology at National Louis University in Tampa. My training has allowed me to work with clients from diverse backgrounds across various settings, including a hospital, private practice, and college counseling center. I utilize an integrated approach of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and multiculturalism, with a humanistic approach. My primary focus is anxiety, depression, stress management, adjustment/life transitions, interpersonal or relationship issues, and mental performance. Additionally, I use the Gottman method when I work with couples.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my partner, our two dogs, and hanging out with family and friends. I also enjoy exercising in the gym, watching women’s basketball, or going to the beach to enjoy the sunshine.

Respectfully,
Ninah
