Driven by a lifelong fascination with the human body and inspired by my parents’ medical careers—my mother as a medical technician analyzing blood and my father as a pharmacist “saving lives” as he would say—I knew early on that I wanted to make a difference in healthcare. Witnessing my parents help others sparked my passion for healing and set me on the path toward medicine.
Opting for a career as a physician assistant, I was drawn to the opportunity to address a wide array of medical concerns without the need to specialize, allowing me to serve patients with diverse needs. I began my professional journey as a physician assistant for Mayo Health Systems in Urgent Care and Family Practice from 2009 to 2011. In February 2011, I joined Kansas Athletics as the Team Physician Assistant, working closely with team physicians and athletic trainers, and Dr. Sadberry during her tenure. As a former collegiate athlete, I bring firsthand understanding of the physical and mental demands athletes face, enriching my ability to provide comprehensive care. Additionally, I work at Lawrence Memorial Hospital’s Family Practice Walk-In Clinic.
My medical practice has evolved to include medical advocacy, empowering patients to navigate the complexities of healthcare and encouraging them to advocate for themselves. I believe in looking at the whole picture, thinking creatively, and working collaboratively with patients to alleviate their symptoms.
Over time, I have developed a growing interest in nature-based medicine, integrating holistic approaches alongside traditional pharmaceuticals. I have completed several homeopathic and continuing education courses focused on naturopathic medicine, and have pursued personal research into grounding, yoga, meridians, and essential oils. As a member of the CDC’s Antibiotic Stewardship Program, I am committed to responsible antibiotic use aimed at reducing antibiotic resistance.
My special interests include Food as Medicine, Eastern Medicine, and somatic healing, which I often blend with conventional medical practices. Personally, I enjoy exploring modalities such as Kundalini, Reiki, Wim Hof Method, and Yoking with Trees to support her own well-being.
Outside of work, I cherish time with my children, delight in donning costumes for fun, and participate in triathlons, half marathons, and various recreational sports.
With regards,
Polly
